UNICAF Students in Egypt Meet for Sushi

The Egyptian cuisine is very different to Asian cuisines, and even though most Egyptians in urban areas have heard of sushi, the majority never dare to try it. So, when UNICAF staff in Egypt decided to arrange a social event for UNICAF students, to get to know each other and mingle, their first choice of food was sushi, which is a new experience for the majority of Egyptians, just like studying online. [/vc_column_text][ultimate_spacer height=”20″ height_on_tabs=”20″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”20″ height_on_mob_landscape=”20″ height_on_mob=”20″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The UNICAF social event was organised on November 6th at upmarket Mori Sushi restaurant, and was attended by UNICAF scholars enrolled on different degree programmes, with different partner universities. Most of the students came straight from work to the restaurant and UNICAF staff were there to welcome them and introduce them to the rest of the guests. Mohamed Youssef, Marketing Manager of UNICAF in Egypt, gave the students some information about the history of sushi and Japanese culinary traditions. And then everyone tasted the food, and had fun eating it while exchanging experiences about studying through UNICAF, about their degree programmes and the partner universities offering the degrees. All students expressed their gratitude for the financial support they receive from UNICAF in the form of generous scholarships.
