The first Graduation Event of Liverpool John Moores University and Unicaf held in Egypt

The 25th of May 2024 was special for Unicaf and Liverpool John Moores University, marking the first Graduation Event for all Unicaf scholars who have studied online with the University, since the partnership of the two institutions began in 2020. The 1992 graduates come from 95 different countries of the world, spanning from Africa to China and Japan, from Europe to the Caribbean and the Middle East.

Opening the event, Unicaf’s Senior Marketing Manager, Ms Ria Argyrides, congratulated the graduates and presented the distinguished guests.

Unicaf’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr Kevin Andrews, congratulated the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and resilience in the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence, and expressed deep gratitude for the support and commitment to excellence of Liverpool John Moores University. ‘Together’, he said, ‘we are shaping the future of education and making a meaningful impact on the lives of countless individuals around the world’.

Representing Vice Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Mark Power, Dr Robyn Pyne, Associate Dean, Global Engagement, welcomed graduates to the worldwide community of a British university, committed to the transforming power of education, innovation and inspiration, and stated: ‘Through our partnership with Unicaf we bring together the resources and expertise of both organisations to offer high quality, flexible programmes that meet the needs of students internationally and address the needs of employers’.

Liverpool John Moores University alumnus, Professor Islam El Nakib, Dean at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, emphasised that Liverpool John Moores University instills in graduates the commitment to make a difference, as part of a global community, dedicated to advancing knowledge and solving the pressing challenges of our times.

Finally, Ms Nevine Baligh, speaking on behalf of all graduates, expressed deep gratitude to the two partner organisations for helping people to realise their dreams. ‘On the professional front’, Ms Baligh added, ‘the prestige and recognition associated with a degree from a distinguished British university, like Liverpool John Moores, have been invaluable in enhancing my career prospects in Egypt and abroad, and for this reason I am planning to pursue a PhD in the near future’.

In the second part of the event, Ms Isabella Stavroula Frangouli, Unicaf’s Partnerships Director, read out the names of all graduates present, while Unicaf’s Chief Academic Officer and Liverpool John Moores University’s Associate Dean presented graduates with commemorative certificates.

As the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere was filled with joy and pride, reflecting the significant achievements of the graduates. This event not only celebrated their academic accomplishments but also emphasised the success of the partnership between Unicaf and Liverpool John Moores University. It demonstrated how accessible and quality education can transform lives, fostering a community of global leaders prepared to make meaningful contributions to their fields. With eyes set on the future, the graduates are now poised to leverage their new skills and knowledge to address contemporary challenges, embodying the enduring impact of this educational collaboration.
