Unicaf Strengthens Commitment to Capacity Building at Global NGO Summit

Unicaf participated in the Global NGO Stakeholders Summit 2026, held from 24–26 June at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and supporting capacity building across the NGO and development sectors.

The summit brought together non-governmental organisations, development partners, policymakers, academic institutions, donors and community leaders to explore collaborative solutions for sustainable development, education, youth empowerment and leadership development.

Representing Unicaf, Country Manager Ms Winnie Rachael addressed delegates during a featured speaking session, highlighting the transformative role of higher education in strengthening the skills and leadership capacity of professionals working within the development sector.

During her presentation, Ms Rachael introduced attendees to Unicaf’s mission of making internationally recognised higher education more accessible through flexible online study and generous scholarship opportunities. She emphasised how lifelong learning can empower individuals and organisations to create lasting social impact while addressing the evolving needs of communities across Africa.

A key highlight of the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Unicaf and the summit organisers, establishing a collaborative partnership focused on expanding educational opportunities for professionals in the NGO and development sectors.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting higher education, professional development and leadership training, while creating greater access to scholarship opportunities that support individuals dedicated to driving sustainable community development.

Speaking about the partnership, Ms Winnie Rachael said:

“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for sustainable development. Through this partnership, we look forward to supporting more professionals across the NGO sector by providing access to internationally recognised qualifications that strengthen leadership, build capacity and enable lasting positive impact within their communities.”

By participating in the summit, Unicaf strengthened its engagement with key stakeholders across the development sector while reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in advancing education and professional growth.

The event also provided valuable opportunities to establish new relationships with organisations committed to social impact and to demonstrate how accessible, high-quality higher education can contribute to stronger institutions, empowered professionals and sustainable development outcomes.

Through strategic partnerships such as this, Unicaf continues to expand educational opportunities for individuals across Africa, helping professionals acquire the knowledge and skills needed to drive meaningful change within their organisations and communities.
