After successfully completing their studies online, 751 Unicaf scholars from 62 different countries have graduated from the University of Suffolk in the UK in 2024. This was the third cohort of Unicaf scholars to have graduated from the esteemed British University.
Our hard-working Unicaf scholars have earned postgraduate degrees in Nursing, (MSc (Hons) International Nursing – Progression route), Public Health, (MSc Public Health) and Business, (Master in Business Administration MBA). A significant number of graduates travelled to the UK, in order to celebrate their academic achievement by attending the Graduation Ceremony at the University of Suffolk campus.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jenny Higham, emphasised in her message in the Graduation brochure, that the University is committed to transforming lives and communities through education, training and research, aiming to make a positive impact on individuals, their communities and society in general.
Addressing this year’s graduates, Professor Higham said: “We aim to prepare you for your future working life and to make an impact in the world around you. Our graduate employment prospects remain excellent, demonstrating our students’ value in a competitive market. So, I urge you to be confident in the skills and qualities you have gained through your time with us and to take this learning and confidence into the workplace with you. We are proud to welcome you into the University of Suffolk alumni community, your life long link with the University.”
The University of Suffolk Chancellor, Professor Helen Pankhurst CBE, congratulated the graduates for their achievement in her message in the Graduation brochure. The Chancellor had these words of advice for this year’s graduates: “I believe that whatever path we take, whatever our work or personal circumstance, we have an individual and collective responsibility to make our world a better place, including promoting inclusion and challenging discrimination and prejudice.”
Graduate Oluwapelumi Emmanuel Awe, who was awarded a First Class degree in the BSc (Hons) International Nursing – Progression route programme, was this year’s winner of the Unicaf Africa Prize. This Prize was launched in 2022 and celebrates the achievement of the top performing Unicaf scholar graduating from the University of Suffolk every year. In recognition of his academic achievement, Oluwapelumi received a commemorative plaque and a cash reward of $200.
