Celebrating Nelson Mandela Day With Free Professional Short Courses

Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated on July 18th to honour the legacy of a man who devoted his life to protecting human rights and freedom. Mandela Day is also a global call-to-action for people everywhere to inspire change, advocate for social rights, and make the world a better place.

Unicaf celebrates Mandela day by donating free professional short courses through its Professional Development Division to the non-profit organisation (NPO) ‘WON LIFE’. WON LIFE endeavours to improve the quality of children’s education in Fisantekraal. With this initiative, Unicaf aims to help the local community grow and contribute to the educational development of youth.

A Brief History of Nelson Mandela’s Life

Nelson Mandela was a social rights activist, politician, and philanthropist. He was known as the first Black president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. It must be noted that Mandela was in prison for 20 years for his anti-apartheid movement activities. In 1993 he won the Nobel Peace Prize for working towards the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime. Ultimately, this led to the building of the foundations for a democratic South Africa. Mandela made his mark in history as an inspirational leader for activists around the world.

Nelson Mandela Day Celebrations

Inspired by Mandela Day and the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the growth of local communities, Unicaf offers two short courses. Unicaf donates ‘Teaching Student with Learning Disabilities 1‘ and ‘Teaching Student with Learning Disabilities 2′ to Victoria Ngwenya, Mariette Van Der Westhuizen, Faith Njobenda, and Akhona Masakala, the committed teachers of ‘WON LIFE’.

WON LIFE‘ believes that a good, high-quality education for children is crucial for breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring a brighter future for them and their families. Unicaf contributes to WON LIFE’s vision by offering two short courses to help its teachers enhance their professional expertise.
