Unicaf University in Zambia celebrated a significant milestone with the grand opening of its new campus on Friday, June 14th, 2024. The event marked a momentous occasion in the landscape of higher education in Zambia, showcasing its commitment to providing quality education at its new carbon-neutral, state-of-the-art campus.
The ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Vice-Chancellors from prominent local universities, who joined in celebrating this landmark achievement. The Minister of Education, Hon. Douglas Syakalima, expressed his admiration for Unicaf University’s dedication to excellence in education.
The proceedings commenced with welcoming remarks by Mrs Abigail Chalwe Chisala, the Master of Ceremonies. The Minister of Education delivered an inspiring speech on behalf of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, emphasising the pivotal role of education in national development. President Hichilema commended Unicaf University for its investment in cutting-edge infrastructure, highlighting its importance in shaping the future of Zambia.
Dr Nicos Nicolaou, CEO of Unicaf, articulated his vision for the new campus as a global centre of excellence in learning and teaching. Professor Mpazi Sinjela, the Chancellor, appealed to the government for continued support to students enrolled in private institutions, underscoring the university’s commitment to accessible education.
Dr Christine Phiri Mushibwe, Vice-Chancellor of Unicaf University in Zambia, emphasised the transformative impact of Unicaf University’s educational offerings on the Zambian community, reinforcing the university’s role in driving societal progress through education.
The highlight of the event was the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Hon. Douglas Syakalima, accompanied by the CEO, Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor, symbolising the formal opening of the new campus. Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a comprehensive campus tour to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and educational resources available.
