Meet Your Student Advisers: Ofeinum Ann, Lagos Call Centre

“My most awkward moment was when I was on the phone with an applicant, explaining all about UNICAF and the moment I had finished he burst out laughing and hang up the phone. He then sent me a text message which wrote ”Change, Jesus loves you”! I guess he must have thought thought I was part of a scam operation.”

Ofeinum Ann, Student Adviser at the UNICAF Call Centre in Lagos, Nigeria

My job as a student adviser is to call an applicant who has showed interest in one of our online programs, to check if they are academically qualified for the programme they are applying for and then guide them to collect and send in all necessary for evaluation; once their application has been accepted we call them again to share the good news.

To work in this position you need to be computer literate, have good communication skills, both oral and written, be polite and time conscious.

My most awkward moment was when I was on the phone with an applicant, explaining all about UNICAF and the moment I had finished he burst out laughing and hang up the phone. He then sent me a text message which ”Change, Jesus loves you”! I guess he must have thought thought I was part of a scam operation.

The best reward I have ever received from a student was a big compliment, when he rated the service I had provided for him as “Excellent”! His words made me smile for days.
