Unicaf visit to the National Art Gallery

UNICAF students in Uganda were invited to an interesting get-together on the grounds of Uganda’s National Art Gallery, which is part of the Uganda National Cultural Centre. The Nommo Gallery features permanent collections and periodic exhibitions of works of art by both Ugandan and foreign artists. Situated in the heart of Kampala City the gallery offers an impressive selection of art masterpieces from paintings, batiks (tie-and-dye), ceramics, art prints, photographs and sculptures.

The event took place on November 25th and brought together 22 UNICAF scholars, studying with different partner universities. After the initial introductions, the atmosphere warmed up with board games like snakes and ladders and ‘ludo’. The students enjoyed sharing their experiences and discussing their studies with fellow students. Present at the event were UNICAF students pursuing PhD, MBA and LLM programmes. The PhD candidates offered words of encouragement to students on Master’s programmes and urged them to continue with a PhD degree with the help of UNICAF. A Ugandan student who had attended the UNICAF London conference 2017, held last August in the UK capital, spoke excitedly about the unique experience she had, encouraging fellow students present to attend UNICAF international events.

The barbecue lunch offered was truly delicious and the students were thankful to UNICAF for organising social events, which bring students together and increase interaction and networking amongst them.
