Lilongwe, Malawi – 11th February, 2022
As a way of offering discounted tuition on all its programmes to members of The Malawi Local Government Association (MALGA), an MOU was signed between Unicaf University and MALGA.
The signing of the MOU between the two parties took place at the MALGA offices in Lilongwe. In attendance was Unicaf University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Robert Ridley who took part in the signing ceremony with MALGA’s Executive Director, Mr Hadrod Mkandawire. Mr Mkandwire expressed a particular interest in the creation of tailor-made short programs for MALGA members, specifically in management, leadership, and corporate governance.
Following the signing of the MOU, Unicaf University donated a cheque in the amount of 870USD as its contribution to assist MALGA with organising a 2-day workshop designed at empowering newly elected Mayors, Deputy Mayors, and their CEOs.
As an umbrella organisation, MALGA, which was established in 1966, represents and promotes thirty five local government authorities in Malawi. As an independent body, MALGA’s main role is to represent, lobby for, and defend the interests of councils.
