Unicaf University recently participated in the inaugural Uganda Advertising Association (UAA) Silverback Awards ceremony, which was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on the 11th and 12th of November, 2022, under the theme of “The Future of Marketing & Advertising.”
Unicaf University Vice Chancellor, Dr George Nasinyama, was given the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on the subject of “Building Linkages and Synergies.” He discussed the necessity of upskilling when trying to position an industry as a leader in the market. He also discussed how the education sector could be fully utilised to build business connections within the industry.
Dorothy Mukimba, Unicaf University’s Senior Marketing Manager, was also invited to be part of a panel of Judges at the Young Silverback Challenge: Advertising and Corporate Edition, where Unicaf University was incredibly proud to offer three Professional Development Courses as prizes to the winners of the Young Silverback Challenge.
The three winners were Manzi Mugisa, Patience Aheebwa and Nalukwago Gwonyoma, who won the “Web Design and Development,” “Public Relations Boot Camp” and “Building a Brand on Social Media” Professional Development Courses, respectively.
After the judging ceremony, a dinner gala was held, where the UAA recognised and rewarded outstanding advertising and communication campaigns, individuals and advertising agencies. Unicaf University presented two of the awards, one for Print Ad of the Year, which was awarded to the QG Group for their “Today Tomorrow” ad, and the other award was the Public Relations Campaign of the year, which was awarded to Team Matriarch.
Unicaf University was incredibly honoured to be given the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious event and is incredibly excited to be able to participate in more of them in the future.
