Unicaf University in Malawi, showcased its commitment to education and healthy lifestyles by co-sponsoring the annual Joggers on the Move JOM Marathon event held on the 5th August, 2023. The event attracted runners and fitness enthusiasts from all walks of life for a memorable morning of physical activity and educational outreach. JOM raised approximately MWK10 million which will go towards curbing some challenges at the Area 25 Health Centre in Lilongwe

The 42km marathon commenced at the early hour of 3:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. offering categories of 5km, 10km, 21km, and the full 42km run. Prizes were distributed to the top three winners in each category, celebrating their impressive achievements.

The event garnered enthusiastic participation, with a total of 120 dedicated runners taking part. The spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition filled the air as over 100 spectators cheered on the runners, creating an electric atmosphere. To enhance the experience, attendees had the opportunity to engage in invigorating aerobics sessions further emphasising the importance of holistic wellness.

Unicaf University was on-hand to promote its diverse range of academic offerings. As the runners crossed the finish line and spectators joined in the energetic aerobics sessions, Unicaf University representatives engaged with many participants and introduced them to the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programmes offered by the university. With a focus on online and blended learning, Unicaf University empowers individuals to pursue higher education while accommodating their existing commitments and lifestyles.
