Unicaf University in Zambia proudly hosted the Italian School National Debate League from 23rd to 25th May 2025, bringing together students from over ten schools across Zambia for a dynamic weekend of intellectual exchange and spirited competition.
Held on the Unicaf University campus, the event welcomed students from Grades 4 to 12, offering a national platform to foster public speaking, critical thinking and meaningful dialogue on pressing issues impacting Africa today. The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Dr Daniel Mpomoloko, who reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting the growth of debate clubs across Africa.
Throughout the weekend, participating teams engaged in five rounds of debate, tackling subjects including trade policy, international relations and strategies for social development. Each debate provided a valuable opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of regional challenges while building confidence in their ideas and arguments.
Points were awarded in each round, and the top-performing teams have earned a prestigious invitation to represent Zambia at the 2025 Pan-African Debating Championship in Cape Town, South Africa.
Unicaf University remains dedicated to empowering young minds through academic initiatives that inspire leadership, collaboration, and a passion for positive change across the continent.
