Unicaf University brought together staff and students for a lively Sports Day on Friday, 22 August 2025, at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) Sports Complex in Lusaka. The event highlighted the University’s dedication to fostering well-rounded graduates, encouraging teamwork and nurturing a vibrant sense of community.
The gathering aimed to promote physical wellness while offering a refreshing break from the classroom. A wide range of sporting and recreational activities encouraged collaboration, strengthened bonds between students and staff, and showcased the institution’s commitment to holistic development.
Unicaf University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Christine Mushibwe, honoured the event with her presence, highlighting her continued support for extracurricular initiatives that enrich both academic and personal growth. The day’s programme was coordinated by the Student Affairs Department, led by Ms Lubasi Munalula, Events Manager, alongside Mr Andrew Musonda, Senior Business Development Officer, representing the Staff Welfare Committee.
Highlights included spirited football matches, an energetic Tug of War, and light-hearted activities such as sack races and tag games, all of which added to the day’s energy and excitement. The event concluded with a community braai, giving staff and students the chance to unwind, network and celebrate their shared achievements.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting the event’s success in building camaraderie and strengthening institutional pride. There was a resounding call for similar initiatives to be organised more frequently, reflecting the value of such activities in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Unicaf University Sports Day 2025 not only delivered on its goals of promoting fitness, teamwork and belonging, but also reaffirmed the University’s goal to provide a holistic educational experience that goes beyond academics.
