Unicaf University Celebrates 61 Years of Independence with a Student Engagement Activity in Zambia

Unicaf University commemorated the country’s 61st Independence Day with a vibrant student engagement event held at its Lusaka campus in Zambia. The celebration brought together students and staff to honour Zambia’s cultural richness, unity, and spirit of freedom.

The event, themed around fostering togetherness and pride in national identity, featured a series of interactive and reflective activities that encouraged participants to celebrate what it means to be Zambian.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Abigail Chisala, opened the event with a warm welcome and an inspiring message on the importance of embracing both cultural heritage and unity within the Unicaf University community.

Highlights of the afternoon included cultural performances, traditional dances, storytelling, and a heartfelt reflection session where participants shared personal thoughts on what independence means to them. Video messages from Unicaf University students studying abroad added an international dimension to the celebration, showcasing how the Zambian spirit resonates across borders.

Staff also participated by wearing traditional attire, reinforcing the day’s message of inclusivity and shared pride.

The activity concluded with closing remarks expressing appreciation to all participants and a reminder to continue upholding the values of unity and freedom in everyday life.
