Unicaf Supports CUEASO International Dinner 2026 in Nairobi

Unicaf joined students, university representatives and members of the academic community at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) International Dinner 2026, held on 18 September at the Panari Hotel in Nairobi under the theme “Global Routes, African Roots.”

Organised by the Catholic University of Eastern Africa Students’ Organisation (CUEASO), the annual International Dinner celebrates the cultural diversity of CUEA’s student community through traditional attire, cuisine, music, performances and storytelling. This year’s event brought together students from Kenya, South Sudan, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania, highlighting the rich international character of the university community.

Unicaf was represented at the event by Samson Kithika Mbondo, Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager, and Joshua Nyambane Luka, Strategic Partnerships Manager, Unicaf. Their participation provided an opportunity to engage with students and university representatives while strengthening the relationship between Unicaf and CUEA.

The event was also attended by Prof. Justus M. Munyoki, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Student Affairs at CUEA, who recognised Unicaf’s commitment to empowering young people and professionals through access to higher education. He expressed CUEA’s intention to continue working with Unicaf over the long term to develop a framework that supports the university’s international outlook.

“We are committed to working with Unicaf for the long term to build a partnership that continues to enhance and amplify the international status of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa beyond this international students dinner,” said Prof. Justus M. Munyoki.

Also present was Mr. Samwel Nderitu Wakanywa, Dean of Students, who commended Unicaf for its support of and belief in young people.

Speaking on behalf of Unicaf, Samson Kithika Mbondo highlighted the organisation’s commitment to widening access to higher education across Africa.

“Unicaf is strongly committed to creating access to higher education through generous scholarships to young people and professionals and strategically placed to empower the international student community across Africa due to our pan-African presence,” he said.

The CUEASO International Dinner provided a platform for celebrating cultural exchange while also creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between students, university leadership and corporate partners. The engagement further underlined the shared interest of Unicaf and CUEA in supporting students and strengthening international connections within higher education.

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa is a private Catholic university based in Nairobi and accredited by Kenya’s Commission for University Education. Founded in 1984 by the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA), CUEA has a student community representing diverse academic disciplines and nationalities. Its student leadership body, CUEASO, represents more than 5,000 students and organises initiatives that promote student welfare, leadership, cultural diversity and engagement.

For Unicaf, participation in the International Dinner forms part of its wider engagement with educational institutions and communities across Africa, supporting its commitment to expanding access to internationally recognised higher education opportunities for students and professionals across the continent.
