Unicaf has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA), establishing a strategic partnership that will broaden access to internationally recognised higher education for medical students across Africa.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing opportunities for academic advancement, professional development and lifelong learning.
Through its innovative Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Unicaf delivers flexible, high-quality and affordable Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes in partnership with leading universities in the UK and Africa, including the University of East London, the University of Suffolk and Unicaf University. The online learning model enables students and professionals to further their education while balancing academic, clinical and personal commitments.
FAMSA is an independent, non-political organisation representing medical students from across the African continent. The federation is dedicated to promoting excellence in medical education, strengthening collaboration among medical students, and contributing to improved healthcare standards throughout Africa.
Under the terms of the agreement, registered FAMSA members will benefit from exclusive scholarship opportunities designed to complement their medical training and support their professional growth. The partnership will provide access to internationally recognised degree programmes that can help develop expertise in areas such as public health, healthcare management, leadership and related disciplines.
Commenting on the partnership, Samson Kithika, Senior Partnerships Manager at Unicaf, said:
“This partnership with FAMSA underscores Unicaf’s ongoing commitment to making quality higher education accessible to the professionals who need it most. By equipping Africa’s future doctors with specialised skills in public health, management and leadership, we are investing in the long-term resilience of the continent’s healthcare systems.”
The collaboration reinforces both organisations’ commitment to empowering Africa’s future healthcare leaders through accessible education, innovation and strategic partnerships. By expanding educational opportunities for medical students, Unicaf and FAMSA aim to contribute to stronger healthcare systems and sustainable development across the continent.
