Unicaf and CyberPro Africa have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at empowering IT professionals with advanced educational opportunities. The signing ceremony, held at Unicaf Kenya’s offices in Nairobi, was officiated by CyberPro Africa’s CEO, John Mutunga, and Unicaf’s Country Manager, Winnie Rachael. This partnership will provide CyberPro Africa employees with a scholarship to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees through Unicaf’s international network of universities.
In her remarks, Winnie Rachael expressed her excitement about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to advance the skills and careers of IT professionals across Kenya. “We are thrilled to collaborate with CyberPro Africa to offer these scholarships. This opportunity will enable many IT professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge, contributing to the growth of the IT profession in Kenya,” she stated. The MoU aligns with Unicaf’s mission to make quality higher education accessible and affordable for working professionals looking to progress in their fields.
John Mutunga, CEO of CyberPro Africa, echoed the importance of this partnership, noting that the initiative goes beyond scholarships by addressing practical, real-world challenges in IT. He emphasised that this collaboration would empower CyberPro Africa’s employees, not only with education but also with skills that drive organisational growth and community development. “This partnership underscores our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable education to our employees, which will enhance their professional development and contribute to the growth of our communities,” Mutunga said.
The MoU also opens doors for future collaboration on training labs and research initiatives, as CyberPro Africa explores partnerships in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. During the ceremony, Benson Mwendo, Director of CyberPro Africa, highlighted the increasing significance of staying updated in the fast-evolving IT landscape, stressing that those unprepared may struggle to compete against emerging cybersecurity threats.
This collaboration between Unicaf and CyberPro Africa marks a pivotal moment for IT professionals in Kenya, providing them with opportunities for higher education at world-renowned institutions. The partnership symbolises both organisations’ dedication to fostering innovation, enhancing skills and creating new opportunities for the country’s growing IT sector.
