The Kenya Medical Association (KMA), in collaboration with Unicaf and other esteemed partners, successfully hosted the Youth Month Symposium 2024 at Kenyatta National Hospital and the University of Nairobi’s Department of Health Sciences. This landmark event brought together a distinguished lineup of healthcare professionals and student doctors to discuss and advance the future of healthcare in Kenya.
The symposium was honoured by the presence of Dr Brenda Opondo, CEO of the Kenya Medical Association, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. Dr Joy Mugambi, Vice President of the Commonwealth Medical Association and Dr Marie Claire Wangari of the Junior Doctors Network also graced the event, sharing their valuable perspectives on international and grassroots healthcare challenges and opportunities. Their contributions underscored the importance of global collaboration and local innovation in addressing healthcare issues.
A key highlight of the symposium was the presentation by Unicaf’s Business Development Manager, Mr Samson Kithika. Mr Kithika provided an in-depth overview of Unicaf’s ongoing partnership with KMA, emphasising how the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) framework is enhancing opportunities for healthcare professionals.
The partnership, which focuses on providing educational support and resources, is proving instrumental in advancing the skills and knowledge of those involved, ultimately benefiting the healthcare sector as a whole.
