Unicaf and Britam Partner to Empower Staff Through Higher Education

Nairobi, Kenya – On 29th May 2025, Unicaf and Britam Holdings Plc proudly formalised a new strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Britam Towers in Upper Hill, Nairobi. The agreement will enable Britam employees to pursue internationally recognised online degree programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels with generous scholarship support from Unicaf.

The ceremony was officiated by Britam Group Managing Director, Mr Tom Gitogo, and Unicaf’s Kenya Country Manager, Ms Winnie Rachael. Both parties highlighted the significance of the collaboration in driving workforce development and personal growth through accessible, flexible education.

Mr Gitogo described the partnership as a key step in strengthening the future-readiness of Britam’s workforce. “This initiative aligns our organisational growth with our staff’s professional aspirations. Education is not just an individual pursuit – it’s an investment in our collective excellence and sustainability,” he said, thanking Unicaf for being a reliable and forward-thinking partner.

Ms Rachael expressed her enthusiasm for the new partnership, emphasising Unicaf’s mission to expand access to affordable, quality higher education across Africa. “This collaboration gives Britam staff the opportunity to advance their careers through flexible online learning tailored to working professionals. We are proud to support Britam’s commitment to capacity building,” she noted.

The partnership will include:

  • Scholarship Programmes: Britam staff will benefit from generous scholarships to upskill through online degrees offered by internationally recognised universities in the UK and Africa.
  • Joint Projects: The two organisations will explore collaborative initiatives that leverage their combined expertise to create meaningful impact.

To further engage employees and provide detailed information about the academic opportunities available, Unicaf and Britam will soon host an Open Day and a dedicated webinar. These events will serve as platforms for staff to connect directly with Unicaf representatives, ask questions and begin their educational journey.

This collaboration marks the beginning of a transformative path for Britam staff, aligning academic advancement with Britam’s long-term vision for excellence and innovation.
