Unicaf and Makueni County Government Partner with MoU

Makueni County, Kenya – 27th February 2025Unicaf and the Makueni County Government have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding access to higher education for county employees. This landmark partnership underscores a shared commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and capacity building for Makueni County staff.

The signing ceremony, held at the County Governor’s Boardroom in Wote, Makueni County, brought together key government officials, including H.E. Mutula Kilonzo Junior, CBS, Governor of Makueni County, and senior representatives from Unicaf, led by Ms Winnie Rachael, Country Manager.

Advancing Higher Education and Workforce Development

Through this collaboration, Unicaf will offer scholarship opportunities to Makueni County employees, enabling them to pursue internationally recognised Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees through flexible online learning. The initiative aligns with the county government’s commitment to professional development and lifelong learning, ensuring its workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for sustainable growth.

Unicaf, in turn, reaffirmed its dedication to providing quality, accessible, and flexible higher education options tailored to meet the professional needs of county employees. Ms Winnie Rachael, Country Manager of Unicaf Kenya, highlighted the importance of partnerships in making education more inclusive.

This partnership is expected to significantly increase enrolment of county employees in Unicaf’s degree programmes, enhance capacity building, and strengthen collaboration between Unicaf Kenya and Makueni County Government.
