Meet Your Student Advisers: Christine Ekpe Eka-ette – Lagos Call Centre

“The greatest challenge I face as a student adviser is convincing interested applicants that we are a real organisation offering financially challenged individuals in Africa and the world the opportunity to earn, through online study or blended learning, quality, internationally recognised degrees from reputable partner universities, at a fraction of the cost thanks to the UNICAF Scholarship Programme.”

Christine Ekpe Eka-ette, Student Adviser at the UNICAF Call Centre in Lagos, Nigeria

A UNICAF student adviser acts as an intermediary between the student and the admissions department. We exchange information and support the applicants through their application with our partner universities.

A student adviser must be eloquent, confident, offer good customer care, be able to work under pressure, and be computer literate.

One of my most awkward moments on the job, was when an applicant told me “Has Nigeria stooped down to this level that a girl like you is being fraudulent?” not realising that UNICAF is not a scam but a real blessing to persons who wish to receive quality higher education but lack the funds to do it. Later on he became convinced and enrolled as a student with UNICAF.

The greatest challenges I face as a student adviser is convincing interested applicants that we are a real organisation offering financially challenged individuals in Africa and the world the opportunity to earn, through online study or blended learning, quality, internationally recognised degrees from reputable partner universities, at a fraction of the cost thanks to the UNICAF Scholarship Programme. And our best reward is the thanks we receive from applicants when they finally enrol on the degree programme they have chosen, with one of our partner universities.
