Unicaf Uganda invited students and friends to a fun quiz night at the Unicaf facilities in Kampala on the 20th of December. The event provided an opportunity to present the programmes offered by Unicaf’s partner universities in the UK: the University of Suffolk and Liverpool John Moores University, as well as the University of California, Riverside Extension, in the USA and Unicaf University, present in 12 countries throughout Africa.
In 2015, Unicaf had just about 12,000 students across Africa who have enrolled through its academic platform for either a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree programme. By January 2019, this figure has reached 25,000, bringing a whopping 108% growth in barely 4 years. Within the same period, when the pan-African institution gained over 100% growth, it has also expanded its footprint from being in just 3 African countries as of 2015 to 11 African countries by the first quarter of 2019. With Nigeria as its leading country, Unicaf has toppled the market as the leader in international higher-education.
Celebrating Kenya’s Independence day, or Jamhuri day, Unicaf offered around 30 students the chance to visit the magnificent Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s finest nature reserves. The students and Unicaf staff escorting them set off very early in the morning from Nairobi and arrived at Nakuru just before midday. After a rich buffet lunch at the Golden palace hotel, during which they had the chance to mingle and network with fellow students, they were taken on a safari drive in the beautiful landscape of the park, best explored in the golden light of the afternoon sun. From special vantage points the Unicaf group enjoyed exquisite views of the blue waters of the lake dotted with pink flamingoes, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, ostriches and storks and of the park’s dense acacia woodlands, home to herds of impala, waterbuck and large pythons hanging from trees, as well as other endangered wildlife species, including the largest population of the black rhinos.
The first Unicaf Open Day in Abuja was very successful. More than 250 visitors attended the event, held on the 23rd of November, at the Chelsea hotel in the city’s central business district.
