The current President of Liberia was born in 1938 in Monrovia, as Ellen Johnson; she grew up in a middle class household, attended the College of West Africa from 1948 to 1955, before settling down and marrying James Sirleaf. The marriage only lasted until the early 60s, but resulted in the birth of four sons.
